Sabres have bigger needs than LD so your deal is close. Problem is Sabres need something that helps them get good next year, so they probably hang on to Skinner, unless talks have both sides wildly far apart which I havent heard.

The Caps will end up with four wings who speak Russian, one of whom can usually get by at center, plus two centers and only one wing who speak Swedish. Maybe they can sign a center or two from the KHL in the offseason. Or maybe balance with Jaskin for Janmark, to keep the ratios where they are, and send the 4th the other way?

Upcoming UFAs aren't worth much. It's silly to think that the Sabres would allow one of their players to negotiate with another team mid season. If Dallas really wants to Skinner they can wait. Dallas can keep their assets and spend 8.5m on Skinner or someone else next summer
