Lindell and Cap dump in Spezza

Created by: Kiliannlg
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 31, 2019
Published: Jan. 31, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Chances are Spezza might not waive his NTC-NMC but if he did, it would help at the faceoff role and in specific defensive roles. He slowed down but still able to provide help in our zone. He is also a cap dump for dallas which can allow them to go after bigger players for a playoff push since they are on the limit of making the playoffs. Chaput is a replacement for Spezza with a similar role and a bit more speed although I'm not saying he is as skilled defensively. Lindell is now behind Heiskanen in their depth chart so he may be expendable. Schlemko would give them a 7th D depth player. They might want to go with a D with more offence than Lindell in Ghost for example. The rest of the deal is just to sweeten the deal for them and could be adjusted to make the deal.
In terms of Value, Lindell would require more than what I put but Spezza could offset the value with a cap dump which could be beneficial for a big deadline trade and 6 RFA and 2 UFA to maybe sign this summer.

Dallas declines easily. Lindell's great, and Spezza has only one year left.

To get Lindell

You also don't have the need for another LHD.

Things are bad in Dallas and the GM might want to make a big deal to shake things up and getting a top LHD in Gotisbehere could be an option for them. Their window is closing

What do you mean we dont have the need for a LHD? Habs absolutely need a LHD to play with Petry

Mete Reilly Kulak should do just fine until the offseason.

I dont know where you come from with that. Kulak played almost half the season in the AHL, Reilly shows some good moments but is unreliable defensively, and Mete is only 20.

So let me get this straight you think that by Taking a huge ass contract to get Lindell and giving up futures is good thing for Montreal.....I rest my case 1 don't take cap dumps for some who isn't really a need the team is doing just fine they can handle, and 2 dallas says no to lindell you can pick someone else maybe Polak, but this entire thing is confusing and not good for either team.

How things are bad in Dallas? Dallas are near the top of the league in goals against, and they're close to being a playoff team.

Getting Ghost would be pretty pointless. Klingberg and Heiskanen are pretty good offensive pair, and Lindell's a defensive leader.

What Dallas needs is a scoring winger. Otherwise things are looking pretty good.

It's an interesting idea for both teams that has merit for both teams involved.

Makes sense! Take Benn instead of Schlemko in this trade. You would get a defensive D. And with the cap space, you could go after Panarin, Simmonds, or Hayes (worst case) as your scoring winger. Lindell might be what it takes to take Spezza's contract.

Its only for this year, worst case he is benched and Peca plays. And its not for no reason, its for Lindell who would compliment well Petry since he is a bit more defensive than petry

I can't see Dallas wanting the junk going back the other way though.. except MAYBE Evans and the 2nd. Just don't see them agreeing to this.

Trading Lindell should not be in DAL's plans. Also it seems DAL is not moving Spezza. They tend to like him. Besides, DAL don't need anymore D-men, they just acquired Oleksiak back.

Furthermore, Spezza is not waiving his NMC. He seems to want to continue playing in Dallas.
