The Caps decline that deal. They would want Puljujari and that 3rd rounder for just Burakovsky. Which is why they haven't traded him yet, no one is offering much (granted his value is low due to his performance and ice time this year)...but Reider and a round improvement in the draft is not enough even for his current state of play.

I mean I can see where you're coming from but I think this is decent value keep the third then reider is performing just as well as bura plus I doubt Washington even wants to qualify an re sign bura since the start would need to be 3 mill but I aplriciate the feed back

How about Burakovsky and Eller for Nugent-Hopkins and Khaira?

The Caps have three RFAs to worry about this summer: Burakovsky who hasn't earned a raise, Djoos, who hasn't earned a raise, and Vrana, whom they could sign for five years, with just the cap increase. They're fine.

Your cap space argument explains why I didn't harshly tell off the Oilers fan who posted Khaira for DSP this morning, but instead responded politely with a request to add Petrovic. It doesn't mean they have to give up a kid who is 7th in his draft class in career goals, for someone three years older for someone who is 24th in his draft class in career goals, just because Reider gets more points on Draisaitl's line this year than Burakovsky gets playing with some combination of Dowd, Boyd, and Eller, while Burakovsky finishes recovering from a broken wrist he suffered in round one last Spring.

You're comparing the best year of Rieder's career to the worst year of Burakovsky's, and the explanations for each are pretty obvious.

The Caps already have a plan to extend Vrana 4-5 years at a huge increase (~$4M/per) and give him ample time to improve more and earn a huge payday after that "long bridge deal" end. Djoos will be okay taking a 2-year bridge since this year was a throw-away for him due to injury. Heck he may just take the cheap qualifier to stay in a competitive spot for a top-6 role. The Caps know they have Lewington, Lucas Jo, Siegs, Hobbs, Alexeyev, Fehervary, and more d-man than they have ice for...and if he wants in on that NHL ice time he needs to not shake the tree too much and just get healthy and earn it.

Bura is another issue altogether and I think at the end of the day, with a lot of guys being available this offseason and needing to make ice for Gersich (huge talent waiting to get regular NHL time), I think they simply trade Bura to a team that needs a young LW reclamation project and has boo-coo cap space and the Caps are happy with a 2nd round pick or a 2nd and 4th round pick(s). I don't think BMac wants to fuss with rejuvenating Puljujarvi, or Nichushkin, or any project guys...would rather develop Gersich, banks the picks and call it a day.

So I said I'd drop the pick on the caps side so reider an a 2nd for bura you say that's not fair then offer bura and Eller for RNH and JJ lol as if that's fair bura an Eller couldn't get RNH by himself

Yamamoto and 2nd is a fair return for Toffoli, but if you want the Kings to take back Spooner's awful contract, you'll have to upgrade the pick to a 1st.
