The only player that penguins need to “dump” is Jack Johnson

true but i doubt it happens. he would be owed 8 million total over 8 years, initially it would free almost 3 million for the first season - then almost 2 million for the next 3 years- then after those 4 years the savings would be would be negative -$1,020,833 for the last 4 years. i'd go for the buyout if i was gmjr for the initial savings because the crosby/ malkin era has at least 2-3 more solid years left

I like Pearson and Maatta. Pearson is still young and I think he has done a lot of good things since coming here. He does cost almost $4mil and hasn't totally produced which I agree can be changed/better, but I think he can play with these guys. I actually really liked when he played with Geno and Kessel, I thought that line did a lot of good when the rest of the team stunk. Maatta is a weird one for me. I think he gets more flak than he deserves, but I also think he is as good as he will ever be right now. It's easy to forget that he is not even 25 yet, but he has the experience of some veterans already. He isn't very fast and it does scare me that I don't think he will find a new gear or anything like that, but he is still on a decent contract and he is young. Not sure what to do with him yet.

As for Jack Johnson, dump him into the river. I think he is going to be in the lineup all the way through the Seattle expansion. ugh.
