Description
i know its a little out there and the would have to be some NMC waived but i think this addresses Calgarys needs to make a run for the cup while giving anaheim enough young prospects/ cap that disappears after 1 more season and pick to jump start their rebuild.

makesw calgarys third line really deadly and creates a much bigger and physical team needed for playoffs. also improves 2nd PP

Three years without a 1st?! Why would Treliving stop trying? Is he Treliving going to inherit his dad's Boston Pizza empire?

Gibson by himself is worth at least 2 firsts. they will also be late firsts if Calgary continues to perform the way they are.

Fair enough, I just can't get behind these MASSIVE trades. Sure they're fun, but they're so unrealistic. I think something like this cripples a team in terms of team chemistry, options for movement later on, and inability to continue being winners. Putting this much of your eggs in one basket to potentially win for a few years would be GM career suicide just because it's so extreme. I will say that Gibson is worth his weight in gold for sure, I'll give you that.

100% agree with everything you said.
trades like this don't happen for exactly the reason you stated above but it sure would be amazing to see
also i dont see a current chemistry downside because our third line really isnt working right now. bennett has proven he can play on the second line and neal needs some talent on his line to produce
only thing is if flames win a cup as a result of a massive trade like this the gm would go down in history

You haven't been watching the 2019 editions of Getzalk and Perry. Won't help you in this years playoffs or likely in future years. Screw up Flames cap for years also.

You can't sacrifice all of your NHL-ready talent like that if you are giving up so many future picks. Dube, Magniapane, and Lazar are all players ready to, or are a year away from being able to contribute at the NHL-level on cheap or entry level contracts. Teams that are successful fill out their 3rd and 4th lines with effective players on entry-level contracts (look at Pittsburgh for a great example). That way they aren't handiCAPped in the future when a need arises in free agency, or when they want to make moves at the deadline in future years. How are you signing Tkachuk and Gibson the next offseason, who are both due very big pay raises?

I don't think this would make sense for CGY, even if Perry and Getzlaf were performing at a higher level.

Yeah, there's no arguing if you win a cup.

Also that 3rd line would have the worst pay-to-performance ratio in the entire league xD

I agree with everything your saying however this is a win now team. Getzlaf is on track for a 55-60 point season on a bottom of the league team which is fairly consistent with his past production. Perry has 5 games played this season so you can’t judge his play and Neal has been a massive disappointment in Calgary so signing two experience and still fairly talented guys to play with him is at least an attempt to get him going. I’ve done Other AGMs where I trade for hayes or other centres that could get Neal going. I was just trying to see if this one would work. You could even remove some of the picks and prospects and just pick up getzlaf for example and I think there would be less disagreeable people.

As for your evaluation of the prospects included mangi has proven that he can play a fourth line role. He will likely never be more than that
Lazar has been given a ton of chances in the NHL and has massively underperformed. He’s good in the AHL but he can’t transition it to NHL caliber hockey. Maybe after his recent stint in the AHL it will be a different story but he is also a RFA who is likely gonna be looking for a one way contract next season which may result in Calgary letting him go
Finally Dube was also given a chance.( not a good chance but atleast he was given one) it takes a special type of player to play in the NHL at Dubes size and in his time in the big leagues he was manhandled. Although he probably has the largest upside of the guys I included he is extremely unproven as of yet

This AGM sprouted from Carlyle being fired which in my opinion signifies the beginning of a full rebuild in Anaheim meaning they may be willing to take on salary to get rid of some of their old regulars so they can build around silverburg Rakel and montour

The contracts for next season would definetly need to be figured out with Gibson already signed at 6.2 and Tkachuk likely looking for 8+ but that is something that can be addressed in the offseason. Moving Neal for a 4th round pick would free up some cap as well you could deal Ryan so that the fourth line completely belongs to the rookies

My opinion is three strong lines and 3 top defensman is what makes a team so that’s where I build the AGM around

Hey congratulations, you've created the slowest Third line in the Nhl, although I do like Getslaf Perry make me throw up in my mouth.

That's fair, as I am not a CGY fan and just read about prospects and look at stats rather than actually see them play. Point taken. (I mucked up the formatting sorry bout that xD)
