The first trade I could see happening (even though I would personally say no)

The second trade isn't even considered by Montreal. Lehkonen for Hutton straight up wouldn't even be considered. Just scrap the idea completely.

Vancouver wouldn't have any interest in trading Hutton at the moment. While Edler has been hurt he has been playing 25-30 minutes a game and not looking out of place. And even when Edler is back their D-depth on the left side looks questionable. Trading him would leave them with 1 NHL caliber LHD, who is currently on IR.

Even if he has alternated good and bad years so far, Vancouver can't replace him. So that trade structure makes no sense for them.

Why not? The way I see it, when Byron returns Lehkonen's spot is a puzzle. Yes he's got a good year so far but since we've got 6 3rd line forwards (lol) we can spare one for a good young LHD, don't you think? And please don't say Byron's going to be on the 4th line cause that's simply not happening, he's too good and too important to the habs.

Lehkonen will not be the one being scrapped. Byron/Shaw/Armia are all lower on the totem poll. Byron has played 4th line duties, so that is an option. Julien wants to run the 4th line as a 3B line. We roll all 4 lines so it's not like the 4th line is limited to 10 minutes/night.
