I think it's great for the Jets and Sens. Winnipeg doesn't lose anything that affects them immediately and the Sens get some solid futures

The value is there for sure. Ottawa would prefer one of Niku or Green though. Stanley reminds me too much of Cowen even though he does have chemistry with Logan Brown from the Spitfire days.

I can't see the Jets parting with Niku as he's a LD and higher on the depth chart than Stanley.

I can see Stanley becoming a Tyler Myers type Dman with a little less offensive upside

The only similarity between Stanley and Myers is height. Stanley will be nowhere near as good as Myers, he'll be lucky to make it to the NHL cause he's really struggling at the AHL level.

It’s his first pro season and I wouldn’t say he’s struggling, but regardless he has potential to be a solid NHLer but who knows.. That’s the risk you take when you trade for unproven prospects

Stanley is not struggling. His defensive game is great. He shoots a lot. Physical. Smart passer. THe only issue with him is his pivots which is also a problem with myers but not as much. I think a little more work on his skating and he is NHL ready

If you would have green over Stanley sure. Stanley is more valuable to the jets right now with their lack of LD depth. They have equal upside though and Stanley is closer mainly because he is bigger and green has had injury issues over the past 2 seasons

I watch a lot of Moose games, I think he'll be a disaster at the NHL level. I have a tough time seeing him being able to improve his skating very much if at all. I agree his pivoting is a weakness but his skating and overall mobility is seriously lacking in a game that's shifting more and more to speed. He turns the puck over a lot and gets it stripped off his stick often in the defensive zone, he's slow to make decisions and plays and I don't think he's nearly physical enough for his size.

Yes. I agree with all of that but Stanley’s skating improved over the summer more than people though it would in 2 years. He is getting better and better with that. He will be an nhl player imo. He just might not be top 4

Well if he's not top 4 D material then he should totally be trade bait, can pick up 5/6 defenseman cheaply anytime. I hope he pans out but from what I've seen I have serious doubts.

I also have doubts but Stanley's value isn't that great and waiting for him to develop may serve well for the jets (Should they trade him or keep him). Even if he doesn't develop as much, he will still have similar value when the time comes to trade him.

Unfortunately, I still think the 1st used on him was misused as they could have chose Dennis Cholowski (20), German Rubtsov (22 - jets original placing before trading up), or Tage Thompson who all currently play positions of need for the jets.

the 2nd that was used to trade up also had really good players surrounding it so...

Then again, Stanley is only 20 so we should wait. In Chevy We Trust

Oh yeah don't get me started on the trading up to draft him, good gawd that was so not the draft to give up an early 2nd round pick to move up 4 lousy spots in the late 1st round. That'll probably end up being one of the best 2nd rounds of any NHL draft ever.

I just view it as he may be the best asset to use as a sweetener in a deadline deal cause they'll never miss him and could easily replace him. The longer other teams pro scouts see him play the likelihood of of his value dropping increases.
