Leafs Deadline amp Draft Deals VGK OTT EDM CAR

Created by: DocArin0
Team: 2018-19 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 12, 2019
Published: Feb. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Ottawa Sells off Dzingel for a serviceable player with term, B Level Defence prospect and either a 3rd or 2 4ths.

Il be honest i wrestled with this trade a lot. IMO Dzingel is worth a B prospect and a 2nd. But its hard to actually gauge what Zaitsev value is atm. I assume if Boyle is worth a late 2nd (NSH) same goes for Zaitzev in being in around the same value.

So if you want you can look at it as: Dzingel for B Dman prospect, 2nd & 3rd

For VGK & TOR

TOR gets a cap dump and a Low 3rd + Mid 5th

VGK gets Goaltending depth thats already in the minors should Subban/Fluery gets hurt post deadline and adds some RW depth for the 3rd line/swap Reaves with depending on the matchup.

EDM & TOR

Just a minor move EDM adds a winger for their rebuild they can use TOR frees up a contract for their reserved list.

TOR & CAR

CAR Sells some of their Defence Depth to TOR for a UFA prospect and a 2nd

Am I the only one who thinks Ryan Dzingel is worth a 2nd round pick AT BEST?

yes, a multiple time 20+ goal scorer in his prime is worth more than a 2nd rounder.

Not when he's a UFA at the end of the year he isn't. plus lets be honest, on a good team he hardly cracks the third line, no powerplay time.

Multiple sources have quoted OTT wants a 1st, Prospect, Roster player for both Stone and Duchene.

IMO a direct comparable that should be pretty close to his value if not more valuable is Mike Hoffman

If you dont remember Hoffman was traded to SJS for next to nothing with is fair given the situation but then was flipped to FLA for a 2nd 4th & 5th

Not to mention Hoffman broke 55+ Points 3 times before that. This is the first time Dzingel is on pace for anything over 0.5 PPG

Hoffman was different situation, he had baggage and sens refused to trade him withing the conference.

That has nothing to do with SJS trading him to FLA?

You right, screw past actions & facts that dont prove your specific point, but lets take speculation as god given word.

Ryan Hartman was not worth a 1st round pick, that was a horrendous trade. Don't let one awful trade justify another.

There's one of those every year. At least. Last year Tatar, Kane (UFA) Statsny (UFA), Nash (UFA), Brassard were all traded in deals with 1st round picks. McDonagh too but that was an elite player being moved. People overpay at the deadline. I would say that maybe Statsny and Kane were the only ones who deserved the 1st round pick. At the start of the year I would have thought he'd go for a 2nd or 3rd like Boyle and Plekanic did in the past but he's having a career year and some GM will overpay. Heck Martin Hanzel was traded for a 1st in 2017 and that guy has never scored more points than Dzingel has right now.

You could say that but id say Van Riemsdyk sucks is an Over reaction is playing in CARs 3rd Pair playing 15m a night sure, but thats also behind Faulk & Hamilton not a lot of room for him to move up the lineup. Through dailyfaceoff TVR is rated a 73.1.

For reference Zaitzev is also a 71.3 at double the cap hit and 3x the Length on his contract.

Edit Looking deeper he has a Corsi of 52.2

Hainsey has a 47.1, Gardner 51.1,
