And there’s a reason for that. Spezza has slowed down over the last 2+ years. Just because he’s paid like a top-6 Center does not mean he’s got the skill level of one. At this point, he’s a bottom-6 Center. That’s just simply where he’s at in his career. There’s no point in trying to force him to play in a role that wouldn’t be beneficial to him or the team.
