Realistic Look at 16-17

Description
Unfortunately I cant see Detroit doing much more then this in the upcoming offseason. They swap Howard with Toronto for a big winger which they could use, save a little bit of cap but get the contract off the books for the next few years. Ericson is shipped to Boston who is desperate for D help, still not sure anyone would touch that contract however. I see Holland letting the kids play giving Ouellet, Sproul, Jurco, Pulkinenn and Mantha a shot at making the NHL full time. Only potential bright spot is the risky signing of Radulov who they will probably regret signing next year. GO WINGS.

      The Leafs and Bruins certainly don't have any interest in the overpaid, long term players as you suggest. Much better value out there without helping Detroit and their cap issues.

      I do think there will be a Dats trade for cap relief, but wont be as simple as your proposed. He still makes 5.5m in salary next year so a jump from 5th to 3rd probably isnt enough for a team to pay 5.5m in salary to 7.5m in cap space.

      Not sure if they can suspend him without pay for not reporting to camp, feels like they cant. But if they can, then this becomes a non issue. Will be an interesting storyline going into the offseason

      If he does not report to camp there is no real money involved, just the cap hit.
