Columbus makes this move because :
They’re going to lose Panarin and Bobrovsky so this way, they are able to lose them, but stay in contention in the playoffs and also recoup picks for the draft. Acquire Holtby who has a cup win but has under performed this year and parts of last year. Has two years left on his contract and a fresh start might kick start his career. Burakovsky is a guy who needs new start somewhere else and can play 1st or 2nd line wing in Columbus. Look to resign him at a fairly decent number.

Washington makes this deal because:

Landing two of the top players on train bait board. Panarin is a superstar who Wanted a fresh start with a team with a high Russian following, and with Kuznetsov, Ovechkin, Orlov etc. he gets that. Also, Bobrovsky joined same agent as Panarin and I feel as if he would want similar things to Panarin. He gets a team that has cup ideas this season again and he can put his vezinas to use in the playoffs past the first round hopefully. He will command a big number in the offseason but is definitely worth the money. In my opinion, it is a win-win for both teams.
