Bad deal for Tampa .. remove Cernek and then it close. Would prefer to trade Gourde than Miller but their values probably similar.

pretty fair but i think TB loses that deal, Callahan being included is definitely a factor but Cernak is solid i think removing him from the deal would make TB say yes or maybe make the 1st into a 2nd rounder

No way they move Gourde after signing him to that deal that took him off the UFA market.
NHL teams avoid that bc it hurts their chances of signing players down the road

Also I love this trade idea. Callahan has the big contract and he’d have to waive his NMC, but his defensive statistics are still very good. He could be a good fit on Larssons line so TT can go down to Roch. TT is just not good defensively

The only reason why I included Cernak in the deal is because Buffalo will need a RHD, and RHD prospects... I do know he’s a solid big defenseman. I choose Miller over Gourde because Miller and Ristolainen age salaries and term are closer together. Gourdes deal goes well into his early 30s

I only included the first for taking Callahan’s contract but even though he is from Western NY. He would have to agree to waive. Pominville is just an expiring contract who can still produce when needed and gives him a shot at a cup.

And lastly, I had to ask for a lot in return because I am still dealing with a division rival

Rule of thumb, I think any deal involving Ristolainen to Tampa if the rumors are really true would require Buffalo taking on salary, would more likely happen in the summer and both sides may be unhappy with giving g up what they would need to give up.

Buffalo got Montour .. RD .. yesterday.. enables this trade. Not sure I agree with logic of not trading Gourde .. NTC hasn't kicked in yet for a reason. Agree Miller the better get as Miller is one of Tampas most versatile forwards.
