Varlamov is not going to take a pay cut to continue doing steller job in net and still be a starter. He will demand more money for the work he is putting in. His wins and loss record doesn't matter but how many shots he faces per game and his save percentage, that tells the real story of the work he is putting in.

his save percentage is 0.911 while facing 1278 shots .... His save percentage is comparable to Hallebuyck, Hutton, and Dubynk. The problem is not Varlamov.

He was god awful for 2 full months, that's the point, he hasn't been stellar this year. He has been below league average and played some terrible hockey during the Avs cold streak. And that wasn't bc of a lack of offence.

He is a talented goaltender but he stunk it up pretty bad for the most part of this season. So the contract isn't that far off

As an avs fan that Boston trade is like ummm WHAT... Yeah he is the hometown kid.. But Boston isnt trading a young RHD for that crappy package.
