IMO laine getting a little more dough and a couple more years and Connor getting a little less dough and a little less years, laine 4x9.25 and Connor 5x6 or something along those lines, I like the beaulieu resign, I think he may have found his home. Little looks damn good on the wing also and should be with Lowry and random on the other wing for years to come any word on if Hayes has any thoughts of resigning in wpg

Laine is bridged...Hence him being at 7M...Connor wont be getting less for a max contract. This is very reasonable...Just like Pasternak and Gaudreau

Morrow or Myers might be other options on the blueline depending on price, chiarot has played decent even without buff don’t mind the resign at that price, I don’t know enough about the rangers to comment about deal, if cap wasn’t such a issue, I would be fine with pearrault and kulikov playing out there contracts, but for a Hayes resign worth while to find the room

I just don’t see connor wanting the full 8 years, I’m guessing 4/5 years and walk into free agency also and could see jets buying a couple more years beyond the brige to delay the laine headache

Unless we dont re-sign hayes or trade one of Ehlers or Connor, we dont have room for Myers

Ya going to be a interesting summer, I still see a draft day trouba trade to start the rush, and hopefully after some playoff success to make it a little easier to swallow

Yah, totally...He has been playing pretty good this year so there should be a decent return with a trade

Edited Mar. 4, 2019 at 3:51 p.m.. Reason: Elaborating on the Trouba trade
I like Buchnevich... a lot, but he doesn't really fit on the jets. Right now we have 5 wingers who should all play in the top 6 plus Roslovic, plus Bryan Little, plus Appleton, plus Vesalainen in this scenario. Instead you've got a 2mill 4th line winger. I don't mind trading Trouba, and the return is actually decent, but let's go get another pick (preferably a conditional 1st or 2nd on resign that becomes a 2nd or 3rd otherwise).

Also we're overpaying Beaulieu, and I really doubt Chiarot signs for that unless he wants to take a discount (which he might). I get Beau is taking a paycut at 2mill and that Buffalo sh*t the bed in his management, but the whole point of a good GM is that they take advantage of players at low value when they can. The guy has still only played 30 games up till this point, and has been riding the press box for a non-contender.

Our only holes really are Left Defense and Center, and if we manage to keep Hayes around for the long haul, then congratulations! So if we can't get a Klefbom or Ghost-Bear type of player for Trouba then I really think it's in our best interests not to take on any additional cap.

I appreciate the rangers deal but it makes no sense for them. They are going into a hard rebuild, doesn’t make sense to trade 3 NHL-ready prospects and a 1st for a 26yo dman, even a top righty. Unless they think they can sign Panarin and Duchene or something and compete next year before Lundquist retires

We can trade Buch but i saw a similar trade with him coming here...we technically could flip him to somewhere else for a prospect/pick...NYR might not want to part with other picks or younger prospects is the thing
TheCelt liked this.

Okay well what would you call a 23 year old on an ELC?

Isn't Howden younger than that? He is the only one on an ELC...
