start the club 20 players...what one game? teams don't carry 20 players, it's minimum 22 at even then then that's only part of the year, maybe on a long homestead. it's 23 players for almost the whole season.

I didn't say it was ideal I said it was to get under the cap. Most teams carry 22 they don't have to. They need to have 18 skaters and 2 goalies.

I thought we've been thru this already. You can't start a season with 20 players and no cap space to fit a call-up. The team would be forced to ice an incomplete lineup anytime someone has a day-to-day injury.

You need to place someone on LTIR in order to get cap relief and, in order to do that, a doctor must diagnose the injury as being 10 games or 24 calendar days long.
