As a leafs fan I wouldn't be happy sending Nylander away for a bunch of maybes

As a Leaf fan, I look at the cap for next year, and the reality is some big cap is going to have to be traded for non NHL cap...aka, futures.
I would rather keep Kapanen than trade for Hamilton, but something along the lines of that Nylander trade could be a reality in the summer.

I think the big cap that is a little more expendable would be Brown and Zaitsev

Brown helps a bit. but then he's replaced by 800,000 player so that's a 1.3m saving . Everyone talks about trading Zaitsev, but can you trade him without taking money back? Then you have to get a player to replace Zaitsev and the big minutes he plays. Holl and Liljegeren aren't the solution. Leafs are losing Gardiner and Hainsey next season. Losing Zaitsev too? I just don't see how the Leafs can lose another Dmen.
