The Devils would be crazy to not accept that IMO. While I think Hughes has a higher potential than Kakko, I still think Kakko will be in the top 5-10% of all players in the NHL someday. Devils getting a fantastic 2C in Horvat and a solid top 4 defender would be icing on the cake.

There’s not that significant of a drop off between Hughes and Kakko to the point where there’d be a point trading significant assets to move up from two to one

Canucks would never make that deal. They are in need of an elite winger so why would they lose Bo to move up a spot. Not happening.

No GM would ever trade their best defenseman and one of the best face off men in the league to move up one spot at the draft
