I honestly think Pul has a bit more value than a 2nd. Somebody yesterday suggested a swap with NJ, Puljujarvi for Zacha. Thought it made a lot of sense, both top 10 picks who have underachieved.

That seems like a much better fit.

I’m not sure what JP’s value is right now, but I probably wouldn’t take less than a mid-2nd for him. If you could get a late 1st or early 2nd for him great. My main interest was not taking on any salary.

oilers would be making a mistake signing some of these players to 3 an 4 year contracts.
The one thing they have going for them right now is flexibility. They shouldn't throw that away. It's gonna take 2-3 years to turn this around. No sense in getting caught up in longer term contracts with guys who really aren't a solution.

Sometimes you have to give an extra year to keep the AAV down. That was my thinking with Weal, Pánik, Chiasson and Khaira. I understand what you’re saying but the Oilers have been 2-3 years away for the last 10 years, at a certain point I think they just have to go for it.

This isn't going for it, and the oilers haven't bee 2-3 years away since they traded away all of McDavid's help. They destroyed the team. They have to rebuild it now and that takes time. Most of those players could be signed on 1-2 years deals.

Value to other teams, very low, so the Oilers might as well keep him and hope he can figure it out. Maybe a full year, that means leave him, there and don't call him up, in the AHL would be good for him.
