Then they offer Laine 10.5m on offer sheets which he signs on july 2nd giving WPG the MTL Canadiens 1st round draft picks in 2020,2021,2022,and 2023

MTL makes a trade with EDM at the Draft for Drouin retained and the 46th overall pick in exchange for the 8th overall (Lavoie)

MTL trade veterans Tatar and Byron in July-September before camp in order to stock pile picks and give our youth room to grow.

MTL still leaves themselves in a good position cap wise

MTL
  1. 2019 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
EDM 8th overall pick for a 24 year old forward with excellent speed capable of keeping up to Mcdavid or Drisatl . Drouin's got a 4 years 5.5 m dollar contract in which MTL is reataining 1m

EDM will also recieve a 2nd round pick(46th) in addition to Drouin at 4.5m cap over 4 years . This helps EDM Today and for the future without any worry of another 1st round prospect struggling to make in EDM system.

Drouin is a 50+ point player without a star center so putting him beside the guy Gretzky says is better then he was is likely going to see that total sky rocket .

The 4 firsts must all be MTL's picks. It would be their next 4 1sts.

The post would have lot more sense (or not) with a 2019/20 roster showing true cap costs.

I'm definitely not a Drouin fan, but I wouldn't be happy with that return. You're trading a 50-60 point player for Lavoie who by all accounts isn't a sure thing (prospects never are) It weakens your team immediately while Price and Weber need to win now, while also not guaranteeing you will be better in the future.

its funny because i am a Drouin fan as i watched him where i watch Lavoie

its only a gamble if you've never watched him play .
everyone questioned Poehling and my long term support of him
well as confident as was in Poehling i say without a shadow of a doubt Lavoie's better today then Poehling is .

Lavoie is a Pure Goal Scorer that rack up assists with the juicy rebounds he create's . 6'4 he's got good speed and positioning but similar to Kotkanemi he's lanky and needs to pack on muscle .If we got him we're looking at likely turning him Pro as it this point he's a man playing amongst children not truly being challanged . Watching him play i just think Shayne Corson without the chip on his shoulder as he's willing to be the tough guy but doesnt put his team on the PK without cause .
