I wouldn’t trade Jones just yet. He’s a good option at a good salary going forward.
I would trade Benning instead

Gotta give to get. Anderson is a really valuable asset, we wont get that for Benning,.

Yes he is going to get paid, thats why I can see them trading him now. They have other players they are going to have to pay and we are in a salary cap world. May as well get something for him before youre forced to get rid of him. I would be more than willing to look at sending more back, but I dont think Anderson is totally untouchable.

He is behind Kassian on the depth chart because Kassian had a ton of success on the first line last year, he fills the Maroon role of scoring garbage goals and protecting McDavid but he has enough skill to not be out of place there, Anderson with Nuge spreads the thing depth out a bit,.

Yup. He started off slow but really picked it up in the second half, scoring 13 goals in the last 41 games - despite the fact that he doesn't get PP time. FYI Anderson scored 12 goals in the last 41 games, including 2 PP goals.

Not saying that Kassian is as good as Anderson because he's not. But he played well up the lineup and deserves a chance to stay. Anyhow, the Oilers have a problem with secondary scoring, so putting Anderson with RNH is the most logical thing to do..

Yes Rangers are okay with this. If there are no further objections I'm going to send the paper work to the League offices.

Dallas deal:
Cogliano @ 3.25k and Nichushkin @ 2.95k = Over 6m

vs

NYR
Namesnikov @ 4m = 4m..

So are you really saying that you don't have a prospect that can do everything Nichushkin can? If not rangers could throw in Boo Nieves at 700k and you'd save a million still

Am I missing something? Vesey is a young cheap offensive winger that has never scored fewer than 15 goals and all you guys want is a third rounder and lottery ticket prospect?

That CBJ deal is just bad, I don't know where this inflated value of Jones comes from just because he improved over a year doesn't make him a good d man, it was nearly impossible not to improve on his first pro year. For a team that hasn't had a good d core in a very very long time and can't seem to get the most out of what they have, they should probably hold onto as many lottery tickets as they can get.

Anderson is exactly what 30 other teams are looking for in their middle six, no one is seeking out a future 4 - 5 d man.

I would be happy to add to that then from the Oilers end. Be it Yammamoto or a first round pick. I just see Anderson as a player the Jackets will have to move for money reasons and one who fits the Oilers well.

I think this is a big time swing year, if they re sign a bunch of their guys absolutely, if they let them walk Anderson becomes a part of the core

We’ve got a crowded forward group especially with Kravtsov coming over Kaako being drafted. Him and Vlad are just odd men out. Serviceable but never really lived up to the hype...

At a first round pick and fairly strong prospect? For a guy they are going to likely have to move for cap reasons? Why would they be laughing at that?

Josh Anderson who has finally become one of the leagues best up and coming PWF is staying a Blue Jacket for a very long time they have enough money for him. Bob and Panarin are leaving which will free up cap space. So you don't make much sense.

Yeah with Vesey in particular there were high expectations but 16 goals as a rookie were followed by two seasons of 17. No breakout season. So fans are a bit down on him, maybe moreso than management. A change of scenery might help, or maybe this is what he is.

Even if this is what he is he is well worth a 3rd and a project prospect

While we're at it, what will you give us for Neal Pionk. Most Ranger fans, myself included, have a distaste for his work beyond all reasonable expectstions.

You're talking about Caleb Jones, right?

Jones is a 4-5 defenseman right now, he proved that when he was called up this past year. He struggled somewhat when Klefbom got injured and he was asked to play 1st pairing with Adam Larsson. He posted 43.62 CF%, 41.08 FF%, 41.18 SF% and 31.25 GF%. But really those numbers don't look too bad in the context of a 21.95 OZS% - of course you're going to give up more goals than you score if you're starting in your own zone nearly 80% of the time. And his xGF% was 43.43 on a SCF% of 51.24, so maybe the bad GF% is partly due to luck - the 0.952 PDO appears to corroborate that theory.

I think he's a clear candidate for the top-4, and top pairing is not out of the question if he has a great partner (like his brother) and they develop chemistry.
