Columbus declines. The value isn’t there for Columbus, we have no need for Shaw, another bottom 6 forward who doesn’t put up many points and is starting to get into the group of older players in the league. Try a younger forward, maybe even a low end almost NHL ready prospect that’s not expected to do much in the NHL.

I don't think that CLB would see that 'switcheroo' as fair, but nor would they likely see Shaw as an aging bottom 6 who doesn't put up points. He's 27 and just put up 47 points while missing 19 games. On CLB, that would rank him 4th in scoring and, pro rated to 82 games (61 points), he'd have pushed up on Dubois for #3.

Shaw’s role in Columbus wouldn’t exactly be needed as he played the same role as Dubinsky, Nash, Foligno, And Jenner. Columbus will have to replace skill players not the grinders that they already have on the roster.

I wasn't saying CLB would want him or need him, but just that your assessment of Shaw was mistaken.

But it’s really not. Shaw is a good role player for his role. It’s just his role is to be a grinder and heavy forechecker. He’s also a slower style player who plays his best in the games that are slower and more physical, unfortunately the NHL is going to a faster more wide open game based around skill. Sorry that I thought he was older then 27, he just seems to have been around a while and I was guessing he was going into his mid 30s. Shaw is a bottom 6 player who can put up points with good linemates and if he needs to he could play a middle 6 role. He had 47 points last year which was great, but that’s also he career high in points... if you want to look at pro rating points to a full 82 game season you also have to do that for everyone not just the one player.

Also it’s not CLB for Columbus any more, it’s CBJ(that’s what’s been the initials all season).
