Fair point. What are your thoughts on how goes about adding more grit and toughness to the line up for Bedard's protection?

Johnson would be an excellent target. I see that offer comparable to the Eichel trade. It would be a steep price to pay. Wonder if Huges is willing to be that aggressive?

So, if winning is the most important thing to him, then Montreal is out.
Winnipeg's leverage is that Dubois is an RFA and has no trade protection, so neither he nor Montreal have any control over where he is traded. Montreal will need to have the best offer to win.
The only roster player that Montreal has that might have a chance at being moved and being of any interest to Winnipeg is Dach. So, that's where the deal falls through I imagine.</div></div>
This all should make for an exciting game of chicken this offseason!

Rebuild - Phase 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Considering Montreal has no leverage in the deal, it would need to be similar to the Horvat or Meier deals.
So, Florida's 23 1st and Beck plus a roster player and a little more for the extra year. The problem is if Winnipeg wants a roster player back that any roster players Winnipeg would want, Montreal won't want to trade.
The most likely scenario is that PLD is traded to a US based team where he is willing to extend if he won't extend in Winnipeg.</div></div>
Interesting that you say MTL has no leverage. Based on the MTL media and insiders like EF have stated that PLD prefers to head to MTL. What are you hearing that would give WPG leverage in the discussions?
I agree WPG wants a roster players. In your opinion, what type of roster player would they be looking for in a trade?

That may be all you want to offer, but it isn't even close.</div></div>
I can see the unfairness based on how PLD is performing this year, but the optics don't seem to lean in WPG favour for a favourable deal. So, what would you counter with knowing that PLD seems to want to go to MTL and limited leverage for WPG to negotiate?

I like how this negotiation played out. It pretty much aligns with what I was angling towards with the original trade proposal.

I can see that. However, I did note that the D-Core is still relatively young. So I was wondering if Jarmo was seeking some veteran leadership.

I can see that rationale, however, the context and constraints of the agreement with TB differ since TB was looking to offload due to cap constraints, whereas this proposal was more of a hockey trade.
Not sure how aggressive CBJ will be in upgrading their D-Core.

Interesting view on Myers. I selected NSH to take on the Weber contract based on the terms of his contract with NSH having to face significant penalties if Weber retires. I thought that regaining his contract via trade would close that loophole and limit NSH potential losses. So Myers could be switched out but who do you think NSH could sub in for the trade to work?

The family factor is a valid point however, the conditions of Petry's NTC is based on a 15 team no trade list. That means 17 potential destinations. Detroit is probably on the list of possible landing spots but I also see low to no tax states as also being on there. That combined with the fact that the Stars are a competitive team, makes them worth the consideration for this what/if scenario.

Testing Market Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>I think Vilardi could be a good 2C, with time and the right linemates. I'd be shocked if teams weren't calling Blake about him. LA threw him to the wolves a year ago as their defacto 2C when they had no center depth. He did fine offensively, but his legs and defensive game needed significant work. Since Danault and Byfield have been brought in, the Kings thought it best to move Gabe to the wing, which is where he's been this season. He takes a ton of faceoffs still (whenever Byfield gets kicked out, or the faceoff is on Vilardi's strong side).
As far as Montreal targets, I have no idea. Being a Kings fan I haven't looked into possible center options, as it's the last thing the Kings need more of.</div></div>
Your thoughts line up with my assessment of Vilardi. With a large wealth of talent in young prospects, this is a great problem for LA Kings fans to have.
Where do you see Turcotte fitting in long term?

Good points!
Given that. Would you see Vilardi as a player being targeted by MTL to fill in the 2C spot?
If yes and the Kings aren't a match for a trade. What other similar type player would you look to target?

I Agree that Armia is probably not top on LA list of players. If a deal were to be had, I wonder who LA would target from MTL as a fit on their team??

Future Consideration - Info Wanted
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>To my understanding. There is no official documentation I'm aware of which is publically accessible.
Future considerations is basically "something of inderterminate value at a later date".
You can't technically "give away" or "sell" a player for $0. There has to be a legal transaction through either trade, waivers, or loan.
Delaying the return value on a trade and wrapping it in a subsequent deal is a way around it.
It allows players to be moved that have little value, without risking conditional picks.
You can also make trades when you can't quite come to an agreement in time but need the trade completed asap (such as at the deadline).
It can also act as an IOU. One team provides a player to help another and the favor can be returned down the road.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Think it’s just words to fill in the other side of a trade when giving away a player. Nothing ever seems to come from it.</div></div>
Your replies add to my point, there seems to be no firm/clear understanding or interpretation of what is officially in the CBA regarding this matter.
Thanks for responding. Hopefully someone out there can shed some light on this.
