Overpay for Kadri and Kapenen? Most people are happy to offer sheet Kapenen at a loss of a 1st and a 3rd. that leaves Kadri, a solid 2C on a good deal, for Laughton, Gudas, and Friedman - all pieces that are good but expendable and help shore up the Leafs. Taking on Marleau is want gets the deal done and we can afford it.

So that leaves Laughton,Gudas and Friedman for Kadri and Marleau. Considering Marleau is a negative at this point how’s that not an overpayment from Philly.

Actually I think this is one of the more fair multi player trade for both teams that include Marleau. Not sure if the Leafs can legally do the "Orpik".

It's not the 11th overall pick it's the 2020 1st rounder which shouldn't really even be a lottery pick, obviously it's have some sort of lottery condition on it.

Kapenen is fast and skilled, that's a good add, and Kadri adds goals and centre depth, both things we need. If you think they're bad players then of course it'll seem like an overpay. I think they're good players.

Cheers. Nothing in the rules about trading a guy to another team who buy him out so you can re-sign him cheaper. You can't immediately re-sign a guy you just bought out yourself though, you have to wait at least a year (I think?) before you can do that.

I’d easily take Frost/Farabee long term over Kapanen and Kadri. Why are we adding players when we have prospects ready to transition. It’s time to take the lumps and play the youth.

Because that's what Fletcher said his plan is. He plans to fill roster spots with players rather than leave them open for the youth. It's not like Frost, Farabee, and Ratcliffe won't learn anything in the AHL.

Flyers fans sure have high hopes for Kapanen. Oh boy would they be pissed go actually watch him play and not look at a stats sheet. If his ass was nothing lugged around by Matthews all season he is a plug looking at 1-2 mil

I've seen a fair bit of him play and while his points are obviously inflated of you're looking for a middle 6 winger with speed and some skill he fits the bill.

He is horrid defensively and when not with Matthews (best 5 on 5 goal scorer in the world right now) he was a gas can. He will get 2.5 -3 top

Again, I get that playing with a great player inflates numbers but he's here to play on the 3rd line and played fine away from Matthews and Tavares. He's not getting paid like a star here.
