Description
The big trade: Malkin + Schultz for Subban + Granlund. The money is about even as is the term, but does the trade make the Penguins better?

I think it goes a long way to solidifying the defense while mitigating the impact on the offense.

They can buy him out and spread that money over 4 years though. Can't do that with Marleau.

And if they trade brown and Zaitsev, they will have enough to pay Marner and Kapanen, and that’s it. They probably won’t be able to trade Zaitsev, so all they can do is Marner on a bridge

Ok but if that trade was to happen, Tor wouldn't be paying him 5 mill. Doesn't make sense to say "basically paying 5 mill for gudbranson" when they aren't paying him 5 mill

Yes, but it can also be put as “they are paying A player 1 mil that they dosent play for the team so that that they can pay Gudbranson 4 million to be a pylon”

He was a pylon in Vancouver, 2 months of nonpylon play doesn’t mean he won’t be a pylon in Toronto

Not only does Toronto accept that trade, they are grateful come the playoffs when they have to deal with the goons in boston next year.

But guess what, the penguins don't make that trade, so you are stuck with that dead weight.
