He could truly be the number one here! Heavy on the youth here allows Melnyk to pay for him. Melnyk personally goes bankrupt in a few years causing him to sell the team before the Sens have to pay Chabot/Tkachuk...A guy can dream


Move any of the guys from LTIR to IR to make the cap floor. If Condon can play buy hi m out or bury him in the minors

Malkin is a superstar, but he'll be 33-years-old when the next season starts. He'd be more exposed in Ottawa, so the wear and tear on him would increase at a time when his body will become less and less resilient. Even if he agreed to go to Ottawa, the Senators would have to consider whether, or not, they have the pieces necessary to make a couple solid cup runs in the next 2-3 seasons. I think that would be the window for Malkin in Ottawa.

The Sens need good press right now and bringing in on of the top 10 players over the last five years would do just that. He could allow the sens to not be the worst team and instill losing in the young players (looking at you Edmonton) and once he isnt a stud, the young guys should develop enough to take over the tougher mins from him. Malkin could turn into a guy like Thornton as he ages making him still useful despite his price tag. Salary cap wont be the issue for the Sens moving forward

If that is the plan, I am certain Malkin will veto the deal.
