Maybe not "worth" 8.5, but that is what he'll be asking around, especially coming off a 40 goal season. You already know there will be a team who offers him 8.5-9 mil a year.

If we're signing Stralman it's for one reason...to be a mentor to Rasmus Dahlin, like he was for Victor Hedman. (Plus, he's a RHD, not a LHD.)

It would be...

Dahlin - Stralman
McCabe - Montour
Pilut - Bogosian/Borgen

A puck-mover and a defensive defenseman for every pairing.

As for the rest, that's probably not enough for Nugent-Hopkins, Zuccarello will want more money than that, and the Kings don't need Scandella will all the defensemen they have.

Until when? I understand the rule, theres probably a date when we can no longer offer the 8th year.

Nvm. Its july 1st. Basically if he waits to test the market we can only go 7. Its brutal looking up details like this.

In that case I would let him go, its too risky to sign him for that much after one good year
