Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Yes in this scenario Marleau gets traded, bought out + resigned. Very original.

Upgraded right D. Upgraded EDM winger situation. Fixed Cap. Lost a lot of mid picks for several years. 8th OA this year may make up for that.

Let the games begin.

i like it, some creative moves. Only thing I would say is that Ennis will definitely get more than $1 million. 18 points in 50 games on the 4th line, sounds like something someone will overpay for haha.

No chance Marner signs for that amount. The lowest will most likely be $10.5M. Also, why would Ottawa give away a young dman for Marceau? I doubt Marleau gets traded. His family is in Toronto. No team has any use for him.

Signed Marner for 5 years, which would lower the cap. He could very well sign for more. Time will tell.
And read the description for Marleau. He gets traded and then Ottawa buys him out and Leafs re-sign him. After signing bonuses he is owed very little, so the buyout wouldn't cost much. DeMelo only has one year of control left. So Ottawa may actually take this.

Yes Definitely. He could get a bit more for sure. He can be replaced with some random vet for 750k-1m. Just went with him because he was very serviceable this year. Ultimately that was a minor detail fill in addition to this team.

Ottawa owner doesn't like to pay money. Buyout Marleau for 800K. Cap hit 6.25. And, if all the other trades go through, gets the 8th overall pick for DeMelo. That's what it would cost for his services.

Not sure if Marner would go for that. Because Leafs gave Matthews that contract, Marner is an $11M player.

It’s not a bad idea for OTT but seems like an odd move to make. Never seen that before. It is intriguing though.

He is not going yo get signed for 5 years, it would put him right on the UFA years. Its going to be either a 3year bridge at 9-9,5mil or a 6year 10mil+ deal.

When I first read this I thought it was one of those "stir the pot" posts with trade suggestions so ridiculous that you knew it was done by someone strictly to provoke responses. Now I am not so sure. Is it possible someone thinks that it all it would take for the 8th over all pick in this years draft? And the Marleau trade is ridiculous. I am pretty sure the buyout period ends prior to his signing bonus being paid, so Ottawa would be on the hook to pay 3 million plus the costs of the buy out. And then you want them to give up a solid RHD on top. And which team is it again that is in cap trouble so will likely have to give up extra in order to become cap compliant?
