Description
People will say, "Dzingel will get 5 million" both Dzingel and Ferland took major value hits with how one was injured for two rounds in the playoffs and the other being scratched multiple times in the Boston series. Dzingel has skill and can play, but 3.5 is where he should settle in.

you see, i 100% agree with you that Dzingel isn't worth 5 and took a hit on value, but we all know some GM will overpay him and he'll get 5, maybe even 5+. always happens

20 goal power forwards tend to cost much, because they're fan favorites, and they tend to lift up the team's play. Using Ferland and his team CAR as an example - they have history of signing power forwards with big money, for example with Tuomo Ruutu. He got a $4,75M x 4 contract after an 18 goal season. He was 29 at the time, Ferland's 27. Back then, the salary cap was just about $60M. This means that Ruutu's contract was nearly 8% of the cap. Now it's rumored that salary cap is going to be $83M. 8% of that is $6,64M f*cking dollars. Boy, that's a lot of money. Now since he's younger than Ruutu was when he got signed, if he ends up as UFA, it's not too unrealistic to think that Ferland might be after a 7M dollar contract. This could apply to Dzingel as well.

Now I personally don't think these players are worth this much like at all, but there might be teams that need these kind of players so much they actually might have to pay that amount.

This was his first whole year in the NHL. DAL develops their players via AHL and NHL. He's much better than his numbers show, and most likely you'll see that the next year.

Switch Murray for Nutivaara and you're looking at a much better deal for both sides.
