Honestly, what actually is the difference between an estimate and a guesstimate...aren't they both just guesses?
An estimate is actually supposed to be based a lot more on using the existing evidence to calculate/project the expected result...whereas a guess is much more loose in the amount of evidence/data it needs to be founded in. So I like to use guestimate jokingly when talking about things that can't necessarily be calculated out beforehand.

what the heck are you doing with those UFAs? Only Frankie would be signed and that's to be back up on the Avs.
Too light on Compher, where is Kerfoot? A little light on Zadorov as well. Im very confused by all this
Do you see any of them but the Frenchmen on the NHL roster? I tried to fill out the Loveland roster using current Eagles...without including any unfinalized NCAA FAs...even though it won't be all of those guys specifically; as Graves will almost certainly get a better opportunity from some other franchise and I can't imagine we'll offer Warsofsky the kind of money he can get in Europe. Picks is just a stand-in for the kind of generic #3 with NHL experience that we're likely to look for since we didn't get a chance to test-drive Frank as the NHL-backup this season.
Compher doesn't have the #s to demand drastically more, despite being one of my favorite depth avs...who (like Zads) was one of my favorite Sabres' prospects when I lived in Buffalo prior to the ROR trade. I can see an AAV as high as 2.875M for him, but he just wasn't able to sustain his early season production after coming back from his injury and his two way play still needs polish at this level before he can crack 3 as a complementary guy with #s like his. So this doesn't feel significantly light.
Similar story with Zads, he just doesn't have the comparables to get much more, with 4.25M per being about the ceiling that he could get from the arbiter if he didn't wanna sign a longer term deal this summer. Now with the KHL threat he could be able to leverage something closer to 4.25 than the high 3s I have him signing in, but like with Jimmothy he just doesn't have the #s & comps to get much more at this point...and neither is the caliber of core piece that you pay for potential unless you're in rush for the cap hell that we're going to face eventually anyway.
And we just don't see Kerf the same way; so I didn't include the 4-4.75M (that he has the #s to get in arbitration) in this guestimate on the capspace we should have with which to build the kind of roster I want to see put together for next season...aka one which isn't paying Kerf 4M+

You should be Francouz’s agent
Phenomenal KHL resume, phenomenal AHL resume, phenomenal for the czechs at prior WHCs, and he looked as good as expected during his brief relief appearance in the NHL. I don't know **** about goalie technique and assessing how their games will translate to higher levels, but despite his unorthodox style my goalie-guy has high praise for the translatability of Francouz's game. Throw in the rich KHL teams that we had to fight off for him last summer, 's offers and over 2M to get him to sign a 2 year deal isn't exactly out there.
