yes, thank you ... I'm aware of that. But how does it effect them longterm? Are they going out and signing ANOTHER 1st line center or 1st line D in the future? Can they not fill out a roster with the remainding 40M? I mean ... I just filled one out.
This team is worse than they currently are. You have Marleau on the 1st line and 6 minor leaguers making up your bottom 6 - If I am being fair Moore is decent, but he's 24 and has 8 career points, so I am not seeing more than a 4th line player there.
I am a Bruins fan and nothing would make me happier. Not only to do weaken your team now, you are absolutely porked in 2-3 years when Doughty is no longer a Top NHL Dman. Which if we are being Honest, he sort got bumped as a one of the top NHL RD. He is still a top pairing guy, now, but 33 year old Doughty screams Seabrook, especially after the this past year. He was a -34 and had absolutely garbage possession metrics. I am willing to grant you that it could be an anomaly, but it's also directly after signing a very lucrative deal - complacency???
Guys I would take over Doughty with at least 2 years left on current deal or under team control.
Burns 8m
Karlsson (depending on contract, his could be as scary as doughty's)
Carlson 8m
Pietrangelo 6.5m
McAvoy ELC (depends on deal, but assume 8m?)
Jones 5.4m
Subban 9m (4 years)
Ellis 6.25m
Ekblad 7.5m
Trouba (contract dependent)
Klingberg 4.25m
