I think this is one of those cases where you could make a very fair offer, then add a first round pick, and the Rangers would still say no. The top two picks, Hughes and Kakko, are not going anywhere.

I rather have Drouin Poehling ( Heinola, York, Harley ) and a 2nd round pick than Kakko

You know the excitement you get of the thought of landing Kakko. Ditto NYR x2 (...oa)! No pressure, elite consolation prize and hopefully the star NYR have been desperate for, for decades now. Zero chance. Also Drouin is the type of player we need to avoid going forward, I'm sure you've noticed why!
