I wish Marleau goes to the Marlies as a player/assistant coach and that'll allow Keefe to join the big club. Dubas can just tell him, you'll either be on the 4th line or a healthy scratch with the Leafs or you can do down to the Marlies, get to stay live and play in Toronto and maybe we'll recall you just in time for the playoffs. I know the cap hit stays but at least it's an option.

Yes I’m sure marleau would love long bus rides. If he’s traded it will be at 50% to a contender or he retires. 90% chance he’s a leaf next year.

I thought the point of a trade is to delete the cap hit? Marleau playing @ 6.25M is infinitely better than Marleau not playing but STILL @ 6.25M.

I would much rather see Marleau on the leafs than injured. Nothing but respect for a true pro.

Marleau's decline will continue next year and he'll be as productive as Lucic is playing on the Oilers 4th line (at the same over paid price too). I'd rather see him mentor/coach the Marlies and allow Marchment or Timashov or Mikeyev or Envall promoted into his spot.
