Rights to Erik Karlsson? What are you going to do with him? Play him in Sweden for a year?

You'd be lucky to get Arizona to take that contract for just a 4th. If they can't deal him, he gets bought out. If they do trade him, Raddysh, Barre Boulet or Volkov will have to be attached or at minimum a 2nd round pick IMO.

That applies to any potential trade partner, not just Arizona.

Can't see Arizona taking Callahan and don't think he would waive to go there. You would have to give up more then a 4th round pick if he would go.

Point and Karlsson will get more. Point likely $9-$10m and Karlsson won't get Doughty money but over $10m. So you likely have to move Palat as well.

Why give up so much for the rights to Karlsson? It would only take a pick if you can't wait until July 1st. You could get a lot for Miller in his own trade. Plus Raddysh is going to be good and you need those entry level contracts to offset all the other big ones. Trade Palat and insert Raddysh into your lineup for $4m in savings.

Cal Foote might be ready this year, no reason to bring back Girardi.

Why would you trade for EK65 rights when it looks like in UFA he'd probably choose to come to Tampa (if the cap space is there)?
And, btw, that's a absurd amount to pay for his rights.

I am not a person who cannot take input. I think something along these lines could happen. You all are right on trading too much for Karlsson's rights. Essentially, I've had 8 year contract in my head all season for him and that would be the only reason to trade for his rights. I wouldn't want to sign him that long though, so points from above taken. Volkov is the most NHL ready as far as prospects, and Raddysh has far to go. Callahan could really go to any team as long as he waived the NTC, Arizona was just in easy one to throw in here and will it'll take more than a 4th for sure. I don't think they need to trade Palat yet, either he or TJ will be taken off the books when Seattle comes into the league.

As far as Karlsson and Points's proposed contracts, $9,000,0000 is worth about $10.2 mil in Tampa and $8,000,000 is worth about $9 mil compared to most other cities.
