The 1997 Wings with Vlad were pretty good as well. Those Oiler teams had fire power but there was a huge difference in defensive play from the late 80's to the late 90's and in to the 2000's. Detroit had Coffey for a while and most of the forwards at the time played better defense but man he could skate and move with the puck. It would have been fun to see some of these teams play. Even though I'm a Wings fan you can't have this argument without the 1991-92 Penguins, the 1982-83 Islanders or the 1976-78 Canadians.
