Can a leaf explain to me why they think you can get miller for scraps when he is 40 point puck moving RHD on good deal. And he will be top pairing RHD. Look wat it took buffalo to get Montour. It took sabres top D propspect and first. Miller is on better deal. So it will cost liljegren and first which u don’t have so prolly next years first and additional pick.

I don’t think you know who Colin Miller is. This trade is close on value, Vegas gets 3.85m cap relief. I would add hall if they need a cheap 6/7 guy.

Value is a funny thing.
Brown, a bottom six forward, is worth a 3rd but Zaitsev, a 4/5 D, is worth less than nothing. He is apparently so worthless, that he is now routinely packaged with the best LW on the team as a measure of cap relief. Awesome.

Miller is not as good as Montour and Montour has more upside and is younger. Miller's value dropped when he started being a healthy scratch and now Vegas is already at the cap with players to sign. He doesn't get as much as he would have at the beginning of last year because of this. I think he gets a 2nd and a prospect but not as high as liljegren. No roster player would be going back so they can save cap space.

The thing is look at all the teams that need a puck moving RHD. Teams would love to have him which will increase his value. You can say all you want about being healthy scratched but he still average almost 40 points. You prove my point when u put him as your number one RHD. If you think so highly of him he will cost more because more teams will want him.
Zaitsev has no value because off his contract. It is brutal and he is 15 point player and that plays okay in defensive zone. You can get that player on rookie deal or veteran min.

It's not my post, I don't even want him and if the Leafs did get him he should be 2nd pair RD, but look at the other options this post had, he has to be on the top pair. The trade isn't going to happen as he likely isn't the Leafs target but Vegas only wants pick and prospects, just don't think you get a good D prospect back. But you are right, some teams always overpay, just don't see it being the Leafs

The problem the leafs will have is that the options for RHD are very slim unless u are willing to overpay (price wise) like Myers or stralhman. Carolina will not trade one of their top four and trouba will be to expensive in every way
