Kreider plus the 20oa pick and I think that it would be an overpay

Maybe a pick back to buy some retained money, kinda interesting, trouba stance makes it tough to make a deal, would be nice to grab a little higher pick, going to be needed In a couple years when buffy and wheeler start to age out

If he was cost controlled with some good term/AAV then we would be talking about a whole different story... he is in the driver's seat of any contract talks at this point in time since he will be a ufa next summer so that, in my opinion, drives his value down. So that was my reasoning with my trade idea as kreider is also 1 year away from ufa but already signed and is pretty cheap for his numbers and then the 20th overall to make up for the value being a defenseman, they tend to get a little bit more value...

I don’t mind the idea, but I think there needs to be something with cost certainty slash potential involved, I don’t think green waiving for wpg either. Bowey, and Svechnikov and a later pick, would be a thought depending on yzerman and where he thinks rebuild is

Since Trouba seems to be determined to be a UFA in 2020, gotta think only teams with are Cup contenders would want to give up anything substantial for a one year rental. But Jets consider themselves Cup contenders and are losing RHD Myers this summer, so Jets need Trouba too.
There must be at least 90 upcoming UFAs every year. What makes Trouba so unique that he seemingly "HAS" to be traded by so many..

I would get over losing him for nothing and let some of the kids in the system develop at there proper level over rushing anyone, in the salary cap era, sometimes it is a natural advantage of simply gaining the cap space over trading for it or capdumps or buy outs. Nobody wants to lose value for nothing and no first rounder last year, kinda puts some pressure to get one back this year

Look for the Jets did in the past two years, they traded two firsts and Lemiuex for two short term rentals. So, the thought of trading Trouba for a first goes against the Jets (and almost all contenders) thought process. Got the chance to go deep in the playoffs you make the team stronger for NOW and don't worry about a pick.

Ya you could be correct on that, I always kinda wonder when it comes to drafting, if the thought you are making the pick for the next gm/coach maybe enjoying or a pick to keep you employed

I don’t love the idea of moving Svechnikov, but he could probably benefit from a change of scenery and if it guaranteed us Trouba, I’d be ok with it. Most of me thinks Trouba is destined for UFA and Det regardless, but there is no certainty.
