Description
Escalator used. Estimate of 74.5 Cap

I don't make much of the positions CapFriendly presents, as Beagle played a lot of center for the Caps and Desy's natural spot with the Hawks has been LW along side Kruger.

Last 5 cup winners have all ranked in the top 3 of NHL in puck possession; Hawks need to get better at the dot this year to get their puck possession numbers back to where they were in '13 and '15. I like Matt Cullen as a possible cheaper addition also, as a 4C (if he decides to keep playing). Faceoff wizard

Beagle also ranked Top 10 in NHL in FOW% last year and would be a great checking center on the line with Desy and Hartman.

Panik may not be able to produce 1LW numbers, but he played very well with Kane and Toews in the playoffs, might as well give him first shot (Motte and Teravainen will get their chances too).

Panarin is emerging as a player that makes everyone around him better, not a player that is a product of being on the Kane line. I think Teuvo could finally breakthrough with him, he needs Top 6 Ice time and performed modestly at RW at times last year, I see this as a winning combo bringing out the best from him. Obviously, Kane and Panarin remain on the PP together, though. Also, hard not to be excited about the chance Kane and Toews play on the same line for an extended period of time (not just a few shifts in the 3rd period), if Teuvo/Panarin plan works.

Hoss on the third line takes pressure off him to score, but that line still has good balance of scoring threats and two way play.

Campbell comes in for a discount and strengthens the back end, giving a great top 4.

Gus is traded b/c of Campbell’s one year deal and his RFA after the season. Forsling is on the rise, and Pokka will (likely) get the D-man paycheck next offseason. This is all contingent on Kempny being a reliable back-end D man. Plus, for Bick to go it will need to be a prospect with NHL experience that isn't named Teravainen.

This also gives team adequate money next off-season, as Campbell is on a 1 year deal, and Scuderi's retained salary comes off the books.

Hoping for another increase in cap, Panarin will get his 6.5 (ish) million next off-season

Only problem here is Rundblad for a 5th round pick. Not happening. If you can't get rid of him for even a 7th rounder, which is probably true, might as well just bury him...it's only 100k.

True. Might as well bury him and call him up if there's an injury. Probably better than calling up someone who isn't ready

Rundblad isn't ready either...haha. Also he was cleared waivers and is only 100k so they'll send him back to Europe again. However, overall a pretty nice analysis.

I never comment on teams but this is an exception just because of your great write-up to describe the team. Great job.
