Why would Ottawa want to do this? they still need people to reach the cap floor and no way are they trading chabot.

For the last time the 6th overall pick isn't on the table, And fat chance we trade Z he'll be on LTIR for the next two years.

why is 6OA not on the table for a player like Chabot?

We traded Pavel's contract...why can't we trade Z's?

Ottawa wouldn't at least I hope they wouldn't. As a Wings fan I'd love to have Chabot but as kww3 said its a pipe dream.

We traded Pavel's contract...why can't we trade Z's?


We had to trade Datsyuk's contract to free up cap space because he just retired. Zetterberg's retirement was caused by his bad back putting him on LTIR and Detroit gets his entire cap hit back if needed.

I'm not trading Z's contract to get it off the books. I know it can go on LTIR. Instead of it just being on the books and doing nothing we could use it to help a team reach the cap floor. I know Chabot is probably untouchable but this deal saves Melnyk 20 million dollars. We all know he's cheap. I think a deal centered around Z and Bobby Ryan + sweeteners could work. I get that Chabot won't be the sweetener but we culd probably get a good prospect and/or a high(ish) draft pick.
