Calgary says yes to that trade, and would likely retain money on both Smid and Raymond

It would likely give the B's their pick of the elite Dmen and 6M cap coming off the books for Marchand and Pastrnaks raises.

.... Johnson played better than Tuukka on a worse team last year and played great when he was with us a couple years ago.... I don't think your giving him enough credit.

Well at least you already have low expectations for next season...

Chad Johnson is a backup NHL goalie. He had a better season (not by much) all while playing 19 less games. Tuukka Rask faced 600 more shots, and played behind one of the worst defenses in the league. Buffalo's defense is underrated. You put Chad Johnson in net for the Bruins this season and they are picking top 5 this season. You can't just take a goalie who had his first decent year and insert him into the lineup and think he's going to produce the same. There's more to take into consideration, and you're ignoring that.

Johnsons had 2 successful seasons one of which was with Bos. You say we'd be picking top 5, but I say that would be better than finishing where we did. You don't get a prize for being the best non-playoff team. The whole idea of this is to allocate $ better. 7m for a goalie whos proven he can't win enough behind a crap DCore is crazy. He had 2 years of attempts and we fell short. Something big has to change and the failures on the Dmen and goalie. Subtracting from the forewards to add defense will just be a lateral move.
