Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Ehlers, Nikolaj
  2. Perreault, Mathieu
  3. Trouba, Jacob [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
- NYR misses out on Panarin so they go for Ehlers as a young LW. Kreider extends in WPG as he has stated he wants an extension somewhere before next season. WPG unloads Perreault's cap and replace his bottom 6 spot with Vesey who is young, cheaper, and off the hook at the end of the year if it doesn't work out. Trouba traded to a place where he can be the no.1 RHD...Kreider can play top 6 LW in place of Ehlers but NYR gets younger, and Howden has a high ceiling and could slot in at no. 3 C or maybe even 2 C.

81 - 55 - 26
20 - 18 - 29
26 - 21 - ..

-Obviously the pick goes back to WPG to even have a conversation about Ehlers/Trouba...figure NYR would need to add another prospect, except taking Perreault's cap hit negates that IMO. Threw in Pionk tho because he has shown maybe bottom pair potential offensively and is a RHD

It's Winnipegs pick that traded for Hayes

I think the Jets will want a little more substance back for both Trouba & Ehlers. This trade reads more into a rebuild for the Jets, which they aren't there yet

The entire return from NYR I think is nearly enough to get Ehlers and Trouba, but the cap space WPG gets by NYR retaining salary and taking Perrault's cap hit off their hands even things out, if that makes sense. I wasn't really thinking along the lines of like, "the first and Howden is for Trouba" or whatever..

This isn't very good for the Jets, neither of Vesey or Kreider would resign in Winnipeg so if the Jets didn't turn around and trade those two after one season it's Pionk, the Jets 1st and Howden which isn't very good for Trouba and locked down long term Ehlers. Considering Ehlers contract he should bring back something good with term not a bunch of maybes and what ifs.

I’d also give ADA 2 more years in $3.8-4.25M range. 2 years could be horrible if he does well it can turn into a $6M contract really quickly.

laugh laugh No way in hell Trouba signs for anything less then 7 x 7 at least, And reportedly he's seeking closer to $7.5 to $8.5 for either 7 or 8 years. I love how delusional Ranger fans think that Trouba will take less then what he's worth. If that's all your paying Trouba he's going elsewhere.
