I cannot begin to fathom the idea that Jordan Atala would be traded for Milan lucic. Staal is a viable 2c while lucic is what, a 4th liner
Just because Lucic spent a year in Edmonton doesn't mean he suddenly forgot how to play. Lucic is what he always was. A complementary physical winger who needs a good playmaker to get him to his 25 goals who is a little overpriced at 6 mil, but would fit well at 4 and was shackled to the 4th line by a bunch of former players in suits who never should have had the ear of ownership.
Staal is a center who who averaged .56 points a game this year which is pretty much dead on his career average of .57 (For the record Lucic's career average is .56 points per game) Both are good players. The difference is Lucic skated just over 13 minutes a night with linemates who had no puck skills on a team that was completely discombobulated. Staal on the other hand, played 5 minutes more per game on a line with actual talent with a team that was all rowing in the same direction.
It sounds like you missed the 1st round pick in the Faulk deal.
Perreault is a classic case of buying low from a team that needs to clear cap space fast. This year he played just over 12 minutes a game and had an average of .37 points per game. This is a one year dip from his career average of .53 points per game. Again, this year unlike other years, he played on the 4th line.
