Meier is going to cost you more. He reminds me a lot of Saad when he was in his prime but better. Saad signed a contract for 6mil. That should be the start price for Meier. And if this year has proven anything, its that the Sharks don't need Karlsson to be a playoff team. You're better off spending your money on solidifying a D-core that's actually defensively minded

Doug Wilson's pretty confident that he'll sign both Meier and Labanc to bridge deals like he usually does with good young players (i.e. he did the same thing with Hertl and Nieto before Hertl's recent contract). I think he'll be able to get Meier in this range for short-term.

The Sharks actually badly need Karlsson (a healthy one). When healthy, he drives their play like no other and distributes the puck like no one else on the team and allows the team to play a possession game instead of chasing the play. They'll still be a playoff team without him, but won't be a true cup contender like they were this year even with him at ~50% at best in the playoffs.

not if Meier signs a bridge deal, which was being discussed

I'd actually rather move Donskoi and let one of the kids (maybe True?) have a shot. I'm also EXTREMELY leery of Korenar moving up, and I'd take the money spent on Donskoi and get a decent backup for Jones.

Otherwise I love this.

I can't move on from Donkey. He was our best player in the last game and to be completely honest I have sentimental reasons lol -- big fan of his. He got really unlucky this year too in stretches where he'd play really well but not put up the points and also he apparently really wants to come back.

At the same time I agree with Korenar. Too early to say but ideally we can maybe start him at the start of the season and see how he's doing and if he's not cutting it sign Chad Johnson for like a one yr $1.5mil deal and ship off Melk-man and bring up True.
