If by miracle that Leafs got 11m in free cap....actually 9m with a 23 man roster, I wouldn't spend on Karlsson. He hasn't been that good for two years now.

This is more or less a thought experiment to show its possible to fit Karlsson even with Marner making 10m,

However, I do think that this is the perfect "buy low" situation for whoever lands Karlsson. The guy is far from done.

The question would be would Arz accept all of Marleau's cap hit?? Even with Hossa on LTIR, they have ~ 15 mil in space.

Cool, but, now you only have 76k left and only 21 men on the roster. What do you do when someone gets hurt? You have no cap space to call anyone up

Teams close to the cap in the past run tight rosters. If a player is injured, he is placed on LTIR and a replacement is called up.
