It could happen

Created by: milehigh11
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 3, 2019
Published: Jun. 3, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Nothing crazy.. no OS since they never happen. But this could be the year they do. lol

If this took place the Avs would have 19.925 Million coming off the books after the 19/20 season. With only Jost (Bridge deal), Girard (long term) and Barrie (if still here) to resign.

After that we have another 15+ million coming off the books with : Landeskog / Calvert / Cole / Grubauer and probably only looking to resign Landy and Grub and a long term for Makar.

The Avalanche are in a good place. Read to compete now and in the future.

Trades
1.
COL
  1. Kadri, Nazem
  2. Marleau, Patrick
Additional Details:
Toronto has to give up something to get rid of the 6.250 AAV on Marleau. They get rid of Kadri who is always a punch away from a suspension but he has a nice deal. Getting EJ gives them a RHD signed for the next 4 years. He played hurt and just had surgery so should be healthy for next year.
TOR
  1. Johnson, Erik
Additional Details:
Avalanche get a stop gap 2C who has 3 years left on the deal.
2.
COL
  1. 2019 6th round pick (OTT)
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Avs get futures for someone that doesnt fit in their future plans. He put up B2B 40+ point seasons. Not bad for a UDFA
VAN
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Kerfoot goes home to Vancouver who can give him playing time and he can help them with the rebuild

If you get the nazem kadri that we saw a couple years ago...he's an okay number 2 center. If the Kadri we saw last year is your number two center, you're in trouble.

Both Toronto and Vancouver would have to offer better than that.
