I like it from a CBJ prospective, but will LA or COL bite? Haven't heard anything about the asking price for Duchene...

You are joking right? Duchene trade is a joke.

No, this could not very well happen...the ARI and COL trades make no sense for the receiving team and the values favor CBJ by a long shot.

King >> Campbell +4th - King has played top 6 at times and settles in nicely in the top 9 role. Campbell is 4th line and nothing more. The 4th next year isn't worth a whole lot. Sure it adds a bit of value but i really don't think its going to make LA take this deal. They have a 4th liner already. If anything they need to dump cap hit just like CLB does.

1st rounder + Murphy >> Johnson and Prout - I will concede this, If Arizona is looking to make big strides this year and go all in for the playoffs, they might make this trade but it's not because the value is fair but because they are "going for it", which most people would agree they are not. Johnson can eat a lot of minutes but his defensive play has been shotty the past couple years and he hasn't been producing offensively as much as he used to. Prout isn't worth much. He's a 5-6 guy that can be replaced tomorrow with a cheap UFA. Adding him to the trade actually makes Arizona want to make this trade less because they really don't need him. Murphy isn't a superstar dman but he's young, cheap, big and already producing as much as Johnson and shoots right which is a premium in the NHL. Throw in the 1st rounder and i just don't see why they would bother but as i said they might want to go all in and get a bunch of vets to get to the playoffs again.

Duchene + Gelinas for Hartnell + Atkinson + 3rd - Ok I've defended Hartnell countless times yesterday because he was being considered a 4th line pud which isn't true but we can't get too carried away here. If a team is trading away their #1 center, they aren't going to want a 34yo, a 5'9 RW (Unless its Gaudreau who is the exception to the rule) and a 3rd rounder. Gelinas was worth a 3rd rounder just last year so that cancels out with that. If you need a better example, Duchene is equivalent to Johansen. Maybe not as good, maybe better. That's up for speculation but they are in the same neighborhood. Would you trade Johansen for Atkinson and Hartnell? Of course not! Same applies here.

From the other teams perspective they aren't getting the type of value they need.

Look, you people are severely over valuing yor players. Duchene is good but he is not Toews. He isn't Kane. Statistics is where the arguments are made. Atkinson had just as many points and Hartnell was not that far off. You have to be able to negotiate. The Jackets are not giving up their 3OA. Many of you think Duchene could get that and two high prospects. You are dead wrong. He is a good player but not a franchise type player.
