Nobody is getting a 1st rounder for taking on Perry. The ducks will just buy him out if that’s deemed the price.

It's a steep ask. Just seeing what the level of interest was in getting that much money off the books, as well as the compensation attached

Don't think you can get a Kreider trade done and avoid a 2020 1st....

What about 29 0A and Corey Perry for Brendan Smith and the TB 2nd? Nothing retained on either side.

The ducks should only trade Perry if some one will take him at 50% retained and 2nd round or worse pick. They have cap space and don’t need to get rid of his cap number that badly. They shouldn’t buy him out. I was onboard with him finishing the next 2 seasons with the ducks but sounds like both he and the ducks understand it’s time to move on.

If the Rangers took him at full price for Brendan Smith, that's basically like 50% retention. And the Ducks other 1st Rounder at 29 0A is close to a 2nd

Since when is $4M worth a 1st rounder?
