There's also no chance Zaitsev moves without something attached. You're living in lala land if you believe that. Neither team, EDM or CGY, can afford to take his contract long term. And you'll absolutely be taking back some money. Simply put, you're not clearing that entire nearly $11 million between him and Marleau.

Zaitsev has positive value for NHL GMs.. why? They take his term as positive thing. And with contracts such as Lindells I dont blame them lol. 4.5 in 4-5yrs would be nice small deal. Asking price for Zaitsev is reasonable (3rd pairing guy, mid/late round pick and prospect) and im sure Oilers would pay that lol. I expected to be much lower tho. But teams value him highly which surprised many BUT it kinda makes sense.

$8.79M and that's without putting Horton's $5.3M on LTIR. Toronto's cap situation is completely overblown by uninformed individuals such as yourself. Even if you just move out Brown the leafs are more or less good, they don't need to move much assuming everyone signs close to the projected numbers by Evolving Wild who has done a smashing job of it.
