Islander fans just assume every single GM is dying to get Nick Leddy, he's literally been traded on here a million times. If he's so good why you trying to get rid of him guys. Also I won't trade a 1st for Nick Leddy.

"LA FANS - NEED AN LD. " Isn't Phaneuf a UFA? Doesn't seem much of a return for Leddy in a trade. Think Isles should stay strong and not trade for futures,

It's because Leddy and Hickey are both likely going to be traded. Been said many times. People are just following the rumor mill and it makes sense to let him go. We have so much young D coming up in the next couple years (Dobson, Wilde, Aho).

I know his year has been subpar pretty easy to realize. Chances are he gets traded..that's why everybody is doing it.

Here’s why Isles fans want to move Leddy:

1. Isles want to make a move for a big FA like Panarin. But if we sign a guy worth 11m a year, we won’t have cap space for Barzal/Pulock/Toews next offseason. We’re going to have to move a contract.
2. Toews has shown that he can perform Leddy’s duties, and maybe even better than Leddy can. Leddy isn’t obsolete, but he is redundant on our roster.
3. All of the Isles big contracts are harder to move. Clutterbuck is old and injury prone. Boychuk is expensive and old. Ladd’s aav and term are both unpalatable to any team. Cizikas and Bailey could theoretically be moved, but they generate offense on a team that can’t afford to part with offense. Leddy just makes the most sense to move.
4. The Isles badly need offense, and the easiest way to do that is to move a valuable but expendable defenseman for another team’s valuable but expendable forward. I don’t necessarily agree with this specific trade, but I agree that Leddy is extremely likelyto be traded. It just makes too much sense.

Those are all great points but still I don't think he's worth giving up a 1st round pick for especially after a not so spectacular season. Expect lower return. That's my best guess. Either way though Devon Toews does look like a promising player on the backend for you guys.

I’ve seen 1st go for less, but I want a Top 6 Forward anyways. If we’re giving up “now” defenseman, I want a “now” forward back.

I’ll also say I’ll happily accept the loss in Point production if his defensive play greatly improves. I know +/- isn’t a flawless statistic, but he improved by about 40.

agreed, there are dumb GMs out there that would give u a first. Yeah that plus minus statistic is not the greatest form of reference but it does exist
