Description

It's tight as hell, but two trades, sending Dell back down to the Cuda, and taking a big ass risk on Bibeau would be enough to make it work. Labanc and Meier take bridge deals, Pavelski gets an extra year of term to make up for not getting much of a raise - stack that deal & it'll be fine.

Granted, if Dougie moves Dillon or Dell, it frees up a little bit more money and makes everything easier. BUT IT IS DOABLE.

Karlsson Wants a Cup. Sure he wants one, but it mostly about getting 11.5m. San Jose is no closer to be a Cup winner than last year. Actually probably they might be worse when they have to do some culling.

Honestly, every time someone talks about trading him (including myself!) I worry about what that would mean for the SJ PK. He's reliable and steady in 5 on 5, but he's a damn rock on the kill.

In all seriousness though, as much as I'd like to keep the band together for one last shot at glory, the biggest upside of this signing is what happens in a couple of years when we figure out which of our prospects and AHLers are going to be good, Meier really hits his stride, and we sort out the goalie situation.

I just wonder if signing Karlsson is the classic........we paid a lot to get this one year rental and now to justify the trade we have to resign I'm at any cost.. Was any other "good" team that Karlsson may have wanted to play would have offered him 11.5m. I'm thinking no. We can have a more objective discussion in June 2027 on whether it was a good signing.
