Description
So what Ive gotten from Sweeney so far today is that both Backes and Krug are very likely to still be on the team next year unless someone sends in a crazy offer for Krug which is unlikely.

With that being said, I think the best way to deal with the RFAs is to bridge both Heinen and Mcavoy and sign Carlo long term.

I think people are overestimating a bridge for Mcavoy a bit. Hes a very similar player to Trouba and in a semi-similar situation to when he signed his 2 year, $6 mill (except trouba wasnt as keen on staying a Jet for life while Mcavoy clearly loves Boston) so I think he gets something similar to that deal, I put him making the same as Carlo

I think a good Carlo comparison would be a guy like Hjalmarsson, beast in his own zone, not a ton of offense. 4.25 seems reasonable long term. Hjalmarsson made 4.1 for 4 years as a 27 year old.

In terms of Heinen I think Burakovsky is another good comparison. he signed a 2 year $2.75 deal after a 38 point year.

I think Kevan Miller unfortunately has to get dealt. Love the player just think the Bs have too much depth on D, and hes too injury prone to really depend on him. his injury history unfortunately drops his value, Id think the Mcquaid trade is a good comparable. Paring him with an NHL ready prospect (that Ive heard wont be in Boston next year) could get a couple mid round picks from a team that needs some help at D and a cost controlled NHLer

I feel Marcus Johansson will leave a bit of money on the table because it seemed like he really loved it in Boston. With Eberle signing 5.5x5 Mojo probably gets something similar but less due to his injury history. Id also hammer down the Marchessault contract, signed $5x6 after he put up 75 points and lead the Knights to the cup.

Hopefully the Bs can penny-pinch some of their guys and get a little more flexibility but this is basically the same roster as last year and hopefully they can see some growth in Debrusk, Heinen, Clifton etc as well as Kuhlman and maybe Studnicka or whoever may get a shot.

Maybe Boston can get Tuch from Vegas. Vegas needs cap space, Boston has some good young NHL players to offer. Tuch with Marchand and Bergeron could be nice to have

I think Tuch is a perfect fit but the Bs arent really in position to take on cap, not sure who goes back in return. Maybe Heinen+1st with something else coming back? Bs wouldnt be able to sign Mojo then

I wouldn’t take much from his comments today. What’s he going to say? Ya, were ditching Krug. This was all just status quo comments that don’t tell us much

I dont think Tuch is going to get dealt. Unless there are rumblings that Vegas is taking offers on him that I haven't heard, he seems to be a key piece of their team for the present and for the future (they did just re-sign him within the past year long term). Vegas will definitely need to make some moves, but I don't see Tuch being involved.
